Giampiero Massolo
Giampiero Massolo is President of Fincantieri S.p.A (2016) and President of the Italian Institute for International Political Studies – ISPI (2017). A career diplomat, Ambassador Massolo was the Coordinator of the Italian Intelligence Community (2012-2016), the Prime Minister’s personal representative (Sherpa) for the G8 and G20 Summits (2008-2009), the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2012). He is Adjunct Professor of national security and international relations studies both at the School of Government of the LUISS University in Rome and at Sciences Po’s Paris School of International Affairs. He regularly contributes on international and security matters to the newspaper “La Stampa” and “La Repubblica”.
Jim McGann
Dr James G. McGann is a Senior Lecturer of International Studies at the Lauder Institute, Director of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program and a Senior Fellow at the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to assuming his current post, Dr. McGann was Assistant Director of the International Relations Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. McGann has served as a consultant and advisor to the World Bank; the United Nations; the Asian Development Bank; the United States Agency for International Development; the Soros, Rockefeller, MacArthur, Hewlett and Gates foundations; the Carnegie Corporation; and foreign governments on the role of non-governmental, public policy and public engagement organizations in civil society. He was an assistant professor of Political Science at Villanova University where he taught international relations, international organizations and international law. He has served as the Senior Vice President for the Executive Council on Foreign Diplomats, the Public Policy Program Officer for the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Assistant Director of the Institute of Politics, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He also served as a Senior Advisor to the Citizens’ Network for Foreign Affairs and the Society for International Development. Dr. McGann earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. His research and consulting have enabled him to work with governments and civil society organizations in over 114 countries. He has authored over 15 books on think tanks and is the creator and editor of the annual Global Go To Think Tank Index.
Manjeet Kripalani
Manjeet Kripalani is the co-founder and executive director of Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations. Prior to this, Kripalani was India Bureau chief of Businessweek magazine from 1996 to 2009. During her extensive career in journalism she has won several awards, including the Gerald Loeb Award and the George Polk Award. Kripalani was the 2006-07 Edward R. Murrow Press Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, deputy press secretary to Steve Forbes in 1995-96 as Republican candidate for U.S. President, and media advisor to Lok Sabha independent candidate Meera Sanyal in 2008 and 2014 in Mumbai. Kripalani holds bachelors degrees in Law and in History from Bombay University and a master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University, New York
Miao Lu
Dr. Mabel Lu MIAO is the Co-founder and Secretary General of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), a leading Chinese non-government think tank and the only think tank in China granted “Special Consultative Status” at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC); Deputy Director General of the Alliance of Global Talent Organizations (AGTO); Young Leader for Munich Security Conference (MSC) (2020), and a guest speaker at Paris Peace Forum. She holds a Ph.D degree in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Studies from Beijing Normal University. She is also a visiting fellow at New York University and Harvard University, a post-doctoral fellow of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology（HKUST）, and a Lien Fellow with Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellowship at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
Andrey Kortunov
Andrey Kortunov has been the Director General of Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) since 2011. Andrey Kortunov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in 1979 and completed his postgraduate studies at the Institute for U.S. and Canada Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1982. He holds a PhD in History. Dr Kortunov completed internships at the Soviet embassies in London and Washington, and at the Permanent Delegation of the USSR to the UN. In 1982–1995, Dr Kortunov held various positions in the Institute for U.S. and Canada Studies, including Deputy Director. He taught at universities around the world, including the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, he led several public organizations involved in higher education, social sciences and social development. He is a member of expert and supervisory committees and boards of trustees of several Russian and international organizations. His academic interests include contemporary international relations and Russian foreign policy.
Nilgün Arısan Eralp
Nilgün Arısan Eralp has been working at TEPAV since 2009 as the Director of the European Union Institute. She holds a B.S. degree in Economics from Middle East Technical University, M.A. degree in Economic Development from Leicester University and M.Sc. degree in European Studies from London School of Economics.
Eralp worked as an advisor from 1987 to 1996 in several senior public authorities including Ministry of State in charge of EU Affairs and Deputy Prime Ministry, and Prime Ministry of Turkey. From 1990 to 1992, Eralp worked as an expert in State Planning Organization, Directorate General for EU Affairs. In 1996 Eralp coordinated the ‘Information Network Project for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises on Customs Union’ jointly financed by the Economic Development Foundation (İKV) and the European Commission. Between 1997 and 2000, Eralp functioned as the Head of Department of Policies and Harmonization in the Directorate General for the EU Affairs at State Planning Organization. After leaving this position, Eralp served as the Director of National Programme in the Secretariat General for the European Union Affairs (EUSG) until 2009. Throughout this period, Eralp has been a Member of Academic Board in European Research Centre, Ankara University on behalf of the EUSG. Eralp has lectured in several universities on EU and Turkish and EU relations and has several publications on the same topic.
Nicoletta Pirozzi
Dr. Nicoletta Pirozzi is Head of Programme on European Union and Institutional Relations Manager at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in Rome. She is also Associate at the European Governance and Politics Programme of the European University Institute (EUI) in Fiesole. She works mainly on EU governance, policy and institutional developments in European foreign and security policy, civilian crisis management, EU relations with the United Nations and the African Union. Among her previous positions, she was Adjunct Professor at Roma Tre University from 2013 to 2019, Associate Analyst at the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris and Marshall Memorial Fellow in 2018 and Seconded National Expert at the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels in 2012. She is author and editor of a number of publications, and an active member of various research associations and institutions.
Gustavo Martinez
Gustavo Martinez is currently International Public Relations and Managing Director of CARI – Consejo Argentino para las Relaciones Internacionales, Argentine Think20 Executive Director and Country Key Expert for the European Union Policy and Outreach Partnership and Cultural Diplomacy Platform in Argentina. Until last year he also served as Head Adviser in the Argentine Parliament to the National, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and as Academic Director and Professor of Master of Diplomacy and Foreign Policy in UCES – Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Belgrano University and a Masters in Education from the University Torcuato Di Tella. Before he has been Secretary General of the Università di Bologna, Buenos Aires Headquarters and Academic Coordinator for its Master in International Relations Europe – Latin America. He has taught at the university Political Decision Theory, History of Political Ideas, and History of Social Policy in Argentina I.
Rohinton P. Medhora
Prior to joining CIGI in 2012, Rohinton served on CIGI’s former International Board of Governors (2009 to 2014) and was vice president of programs at Canada’s International Development Research Centre. Rohinton’s fields of expertise are monetary and trade policy, international economic relations and development economics.
Rohinton was recently named to The Lancet and the Financial Times Commission on Governing Health Futures 2030, as well as the Commission on Global Economic Transformation, co-chaired by Nobel economics laureates Michael Spence and Joseph Stiglitz. Rohinton serves on the boards of the Institute for New Economic Thinking and the McLuhan Foundation and is on the advisory board of the WTO Chairs Programme, UNU-MERIT, and Global Health Centre.
Rohinton received his doctorate in economics in 1988 from the University of Toronto, where he subsequently taught for a number of years. In addition to his Ph.D., Rohinton earned his B.A. and M.A at the University of Toronto, where he majored in economics.
Rose Ngugi
Dr Rose Ngugi is the Executive Director of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). She is involved in providing technical guidance in public policy research and analysis as well as capacity building in promoting evidence-based policy making process with the overall aim of contributing to the achievement of the national development goals. Before then, she was a Senior Advisor in the Office of Executive Director, Africa Group 1, International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C. Dr. Ngugi has been a member of Central Bank of Kenya, Monetary Policy Committee and has vast teaching experience from the University of Nairobi, School of Economics. She has published widely with research interests in public policy, financial sector, investments, public sector reform agenda and institutional issues. She holds a PhD from Business School Birmingham University, UK, Masters and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
Eleonora Tafuro Ambrosetti
Dr Eleonora Tafuro Ambrosetti is a research fellow at the Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia Centre at ISPI. Prior to that, she was a Marie Curie fellow based at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey, where she has also pursued her PhD. She has also worked as a junior researcher at the Brussels office of the Foundation for International Relations and Foreign Dialogue (FRIDE) and as a research assistant at the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB). She holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Salento, an MA in European Studies from the University of Roma Tre, and an MRes in International Relations from the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI).
Eleonora’s areas of interest include Russian foreign policy, EU-Russia and Russia-Turkey relations, and EU neighbourhood policies (especially with Eastern neighbours). She is a member of WIIS (Women in International Security), an international network dedicated to increasing the influence of women in the field of foreign and defence policy. In addition to her native Italian, she speaks English, Spanish and French fluently and she has a working knowledge of Turkish and Russian.
